On March 24, 2025, third-year students from the Department of Plant Science, Faculty of Science, Mahidol University participated in an academic field visit at Phoenix Company, located in the Phoenix Building, Pratunam, Bangkok. The excursion was conducted as part of the “Economic Botany” course, under the supervision of Assistant Professor Dr. Sasivimol Swangpol.
The objective of the visit was to provide students with practical insights into the industrial applications of economic plants, with an emphasis on research and development, product processing, value addition, and market integration. Phoenix Company, recognized for its leadership in plant-based innovation—particularly in medicinal and economic plants—offered a comprehensive overview of its operational processes and organizational knowledge.
During the visit, students had the opportunity to engage in discussions with industry experts and tour the company’s facilities for plant product development and processing. This hands-on experience deepened their understanding of the role of economic plants within the modern economy.
The field visit served not only as an extension of classroom learning into a real-world context, but also as an inspiration for students to recognize the potential of plant-based resources in driving sustainable economic and societal advancement. Source
