Flow Cytometry for Research in Plant Science
During 26-28 January 2010, Faculty of Science, Mahidol University (MUSC), Bangkok, Thailand, hosted a hands-on workshop “Flow Cytometry for Research in Plant Science” by Dr. Jaroslav Dolezel from Laboratory of Molecular Cytogenetics and Cytometry, Institute of Experimental Botany (IEB), Academy of Science, Czech Republic. Detail of the workshop included;
- Principles of the Flow cytometer, lectured by manufacturer
- Flow cytometry for genome size estimation, chromosome sorting, and other applications in plant science, lectured by Dr. J. Dolezel
- Flow Cytometry project done at MUSC, Mahidol University, lectured by Dr. Sasivimon Swangpol and Dr. Jamorn Somana, M.D., MUSC
- Sample preparations
- Sample analyses using flow cytometer (FACSCanto and FACAria II, BD)
Participants to lectures and labs included 20 faculty staffs, researchers, and graduate students from six universities/institutes in Thailand, i.e., Mahidol University, Chulalongkorn University, Kasetsart University, King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang, Queen Sirikit Botanic Garden and the Royal Project Foundation.
