The Department of Plant Science, Faculty of Science, Mahidol University, would like to extend our heartfelt congratulations to Ms. Wilailak Saechan (3rd-year student, Department of Botany) on her selection to participate in the second round of training and competition in the 20th Thailand Young Science Ambassador Program (YTSA#20). This program is one of the initiatives aimed at promoting youth with exceptional abilities in creative science communication and a global perspective.
This project is organized through the collaboration of the National Science Museum Organization (NSM), Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, along with the Goethe-Institut Thailand, the Science Society of Thailand under the Royal Patronage, and the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC). The objective is to identify Thai youth with the potential to become “Youth Science Ambassadors” in order to engage in science communication with the general public. In addition, selected individuals will have the opportunity to undergo training and participate in study tours in the Federal Republic of Germany.
The training and activities for this second round are scheduled to take place from April 4 to 6, 2025, in both online and workshop formats. The focus will be on enhancing knowledge and skills in scientific communication, teamwork, effective media creation, and presenting scientific ideas in a manner that is both accessible and engaging for the general public.
Ms. Wilailak’s selection to advance to the second round reflects her exceptional abilities, determination, and potential in the fields of science and communication. These qualities are crucial for the youth of the 21st century, who will play a pivotal role in building a society that is both knowledgeable and well-versed in science and technology. It is a great source of pride that Thai youth are able to stand on a stage that upholds high standards and quality at the national level. This not only enhances practical learning experiences but also serves as a platform for inspiration, academic skill development, and future international collaboration opportunities. Her journey towards becoming one of the representatives of the “20th Thai Youth Science Ambassadors” is a remarkable achievement, and she will undoubtedly bring back knowledge, experiences, and inspiration to widely share with Thai society.
