On 28 January 2026, second-year students from the Department of Plant Science, Faculty of Science, Mahidol University were given the opportunity to participate in an academic study visit as part of the course Selected Topics in Plant Science at the National Biobank Thailand, under the National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA).
The study visit was supervised by Associate Professor Dr. Saroj Ruchisansakun, the course instructor. The objective of this activity was to enhance students’ knowledge and understanding of biobank systems, particularly in the areas of biological resource collection, preservation, and management, which play a crucial role in supporting research and development in plant science, biology, and biotechnology.
During the visit, students attended a special lecture delivered by experts from the National Biobank Thailand and explored the operational processes of the biobank, including sample acquisition, storage systems, quality control, and the utilization of biological resources for scientific research and sustainable innovation. This educational activity provided valuable hands-on experience and broadened students’ perspectives in plant science and related fields. It also served as an important opportunity to inspire students and strengthen their academic foundation for future research and professional development, contributing to the advancement of scientific personnel in Thailand.
