The Department of Plant Science, Faculty of Science, Mahidol University, welcomed Prof. Dr. Rob Marchant from the University of York, United Kingdom, as a distinguished guest lecturer and visiting scholar during 28–30 November 2025.
On 28 November 2025, Prof. Dr. Marchant delivered a special academic seminar at Room R503, Research Building, Faculty of Science, Mahidol University. The seminar attracted strong interest from academic staff as well as undergraduate and graduate students. He shared valuable insights, research perspectives, and professional experiences, fostering an engaging learning environment and active academic discussion. During his visit, Prof. Dr. Marchant also toured the research laboratories of the Department of Plant Science at both the Phayathai and Salaya campuses. The laboratory visits were led by Dr. Apichaya Englong and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Aussanee Pichakum, who introduced the department’s research facilities, ongoing projects, and academic activities.
Furthermore, between 29–30 November 2025, Prof. Dr. Marchant participated in a field expedition in Rayong Province, accompanied by Dr. Apichaya Englong (Faculty of Science) and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Paramita Punwong (Faculty of Environment and Resource Studies). The team discussed and planned a new collaborative research project focusing on vegetation change and carbon sequestration in peat swamp and mangrove forests in Rayong, including areas within the Rayong Botanical Garden. These activities provided an excellent opportunity to enhance academic knowledge, promote interdisciplinary research, and strengthen international academic collaboration within Mahidol University.
